If you re going with this approach it may take a couple layers of paint and we recommend a clear code above the fabric to seal the surface.
Paint outside metal awning.
Place a primer on the aluminum awning.
The awning is a high gloss white awning painted with an airless paint sprayer.
Slide a paint scraper across the surface of the awning until it is free of all loose paint and stubborn debris.
Apply it to the awning with a paint roller.

To prep metal for paint adhesion you must first clean it with soap and water remove light rust with a wire brush sand it with fine grain sandpaper and then in most cases prime.
Scuff sand if coating is high gloss and wipe off sanding residue.

In order to create a barrier between the elements and your awning mix one pint of paint thinner with one gallon of primer paint.
If you want to paint your awning darker this is the easiest option.
We used a bonding primer and dtm to spray the awning to make it look just like new.
Allow 24 hours for the primer to cure before you spray paint.
How to paint metal.
You can normally go with a darker color to cover up faded fabric.
To avoid this spray the sheet vinyl with a garden hose.
It can be a bit tricky to paint your awning a lighter color.
