But there s an important difference as well because these stains will highlight the cedar s natural texture. Brush application is usually the best. One coat of solid color stain is only marginally adequate on new wood. The new cedar is so pretty now i m debating on staining the siding above the deck but still painting the pink siding to blue grey.
